Join us for a walk around Lands End to learn about the coastal and marine environmental about San Francisco and our impacts on our waterways. We will be sharing information about fish and mammals that live in the waters around San Francisco, how habitat restoration work and parks affect water, and some of the recent events and changes to the oceans around the Bay.

Chip Trail at Fort Funston Road
Take a walk with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in Fort Funston and experience the natural splendor of the “Great Dune Waste” that used to cover most of the peninsula of San Francisco. This walk will focus on sharing general knowledge of sand dune environments and the local plants and animals that live in them, the environmental services they provide, as well as how we at the Conservancy manage and maintain these areas.

Think of it as trying to find as many different major branches on the tree of life, rather than counting the leaves (species). Depending on participants interest we may also look at shrub and tree diversity. No prior knowledge necessary.
