Take a walk with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in Fort Funston and experience the natural splendor of the “Great Dune Waste” that used to cover most of the peninsula of San Francisco. This walk will focus on sharing general  knowledge of sand dune environments and the local plants and animals that live in them, the environmental services they provide, as well as how we at the Conservancy manage and maintain these areas.

Join us for a walk around Lands End to learn about the coastal and marine environmental about San Francisco and our impacts on our waterways.  We will be sharing information about fish and mammals that live in the waters around San Francisco, how habitat restoration work and parks affect water, and some of the recent events and changes to the oceans around the Bay.

Come and get hands-on with our precious native seeds! Robin Binaoro (Associate Manager, Presidio Nursery) and Stacy Jacobsen (Seed Collection Program Manager) will be discussing the fundamentals of seed collection and cleaning!

Led by Doc Miles, a professional photographer and one of our talented park volunteer photographers, this class will help you get the most out of your phone camera (specifically iPhone camera).

Join Jake Kurzweil, One Tam’s lead researcher of springs on Mt. Tam, for a hike through the history and ecology of Mt. Tam Springs.

Join us for a special insider’s view of the Presidio Tunnel Tops project, which will create 14 acres of new parkland on top of the Presidio Parkway (Doyle Drive) tunnels.

Join park historian John Martini on an exploration of Fort Funston and the remains of many of these fortifications lie buried beneath the city’s last large expanse of natural dunes.

Enjoy a sneak-peek of the future Field Station and Outpost, future play and discovery spaces for youth and families that are part of an expanded youth campus being built at the Presidio Tunnel Tops.

Take a stroll through the Marin Headlands for an art-filled afternoon at Headlands Center for the Arts. With an iPhone or iPad, explore artist Vishal K. Dar’s augmented reality installation, Edge of See; Twilight Engines, a suite o site-specific outdoor virtual sculptures at three former military batteries.

The Presidio is home to the largest collection of Andy Goldsworthy art on public view in North America. This guided hike visits the park’s four installations by the world-renowned artist: Spire (2008), Wood Line (2010/2011), Tree Fall (2013), and Earth Wall (2014).
