Thousands of raptors fly over Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands, and hundreds of volunteers stand atop to count them. For more than two decades this dedication to hawk counting and conservation has helped capture the bigger picture of raptor species abundance and migration patterns. Just like the raptors, these volunteer Hawkwatchers return year after year, continuously enraptured by the beauty of the birds, and by the sense of contributing to something much greater than themselves.
