Packing the Parks: An NPS Centennial Celebration

To celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Park Service, 100 backpackers (70 of them Bay Area high schoolers) hiked across the Golden Gate National Parks on July 21–24, 2016. The trek—which took the participants to Mt. Tamalpais, Muir Woods, the Marin Headlands, Kirby Cove, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Presidio, and other spectacular national park sites—culminated in a community celebration at Crissy Field.
