2017 Summer Camp Scholarship Information

Thank you for your interest in Crissy Field Center Summer Camp. For generations, summer programs have served as a source of support, learning, and enrichment for youth. However, it has been difficult for children from low-income families to take advantage of such opportunities. Summer learning loss is a well-documented phenomenon, with students losing between one and two months' worth of academic knowledge each summer. Crissy Field Center is dedicated to addressing summer learning loss and providing meaningful summer opportunities to all Bay Area youth.

Fifty percent of our total camp slots are reserved for scholarship applicants and we offer full and half scholarships to qualifying youth. Financial assistance is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and applications are accepted until all scholarship slots are filled.

Eligibility:

If your child receives free or reduced lunch at school, you automatically qualify for a full or half-discounted scholarship. If your child is not enrolled in the program but you would still like to be considered, we encourage you to complete the application.

To be considered, you must demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Proof of eligibility must be received within two weeks of submission of the scholarship application. Please email scanned copies of the documents to summercamp@parksconservancy.org or post mail to the address below:

Please provide copies of ONE or more of the following accepted documents:

• Letter of eligibility or enrollment in the Free/Reduced Lunch program from the school board
• Letter of eligibility or enrollment in one or more of the government assistance programs. For more information on each program, visit this website.

  • California CalWorks (TANF)
  • California Headstart
  • California Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
  • California Medicaid (Parents only; not applicable for extended family members such as grandparents)
  • California Special Milk Program
  • California Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • California Unemployment Insurance (must be in process of receiving aid)
  • California Weatherization Assistance Program
• Copy of 2016 tax return and W2. If your family still has yet to file taxes for 2016, a copy of the 2015 tax return is accepted. The W2 must be current.

Extended Care

Afternoon extended care (4:00 pm-5:00 pm) is provided free of charge to all scholarship awardees.
Campers must be picked up by 5:00 pm.
Late pick-ups after 5:00 pm will be charged $5 for every five minutes.

Payment:

If your child is determined to be eligible for a full or half scholarship, we will send you an invoice for payment.
A $35 registration is charged per application, per session.
Full scholarship applicants will be charged only the $35 registration fee.
Half scholarship applicants will be charged the $35 registration fee along with the difference in the cost of camp ($35 + $325). Payment must be received within one week of invoice or the application will be nullified.

Refund Policy:

The $35 registration fee per application is NON-refundable. 
For half scholarship awardees, there is a 75% refund for cancellations requested up to two weeks prior to the beginning of a camp session.
No refund for cancellations are made after the two-week deadline.

No-shows

The Crissy Field Center strives to offer as many children as possible the opportunity to attend our summer camp and have an enriching camp experience. As such, we take no-shows seriously.
If you are unable to take advantage of our camp, kindly let us know via phone or email as soon as possible so we may offer the slot to another eligible child.
If we do not receive notice of cancellation, it is possible your child may not be considered for future scholarship opportunities.

How to apply

To apply for a scholarship, please select the camp session of choice and click “Register”. Please note that this is only an application for scholarship and completion of the form does not signify enrollment into camp. 
The "enrollment" status at the end of the form notes only your successful submission of the application. After your application is submitted, a Crissy Field Center staff person will contact you to follow up with the next steps in the application process (i.e. to submit proof of eligibility).
