When: Saturday, December 14, 2024, 10 am–2 pm;

Where: Mt Burdell Preserve, Novato; specific meeting location will be listed in the registration confirmation email. ​Registration is required.

Join us for a community day to enhance monarch habitat in Marin County! We will be planting native milkweed and a variety of nectar plants. Program will include a hike in, education on monarchs, and planting tools and training.  Be prepared to spend the event outdoors in variable weather (bring sunscreen, hat, jackets, long pants, and close-toed shoes). Youth under 16 welcome with adult supervision. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy a break under the oaks.

Accessibility notes: This trail is not recommended for strollers or wheelchair users. There is no bathroom on site. There is little to no shade on the trail and limited shade available at the work site. Cell service is limited. Event will take place rain or shine—storms or heavy rain will cancel the event. Age, Skills, What to Bring:

  • New volunteers will need to complete Volunteer Agreement Forms - your project leader will have the forms on-site for you to complete at the beginning of the event.
  • For participants under 18: each participant needs to bring their own Volunteer Agreement Forms with a parent/guardian signature.
  • Volunteers ages 12 and up are welcome. Read our Youth Policy Guidelines (PDF) for youth under the age of 15.
  • We'll be working rain or shine. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Bring layers for changing weather and rain gear if necessary.
  • Bring a personal water bottle and sunscreen.
  • No experience necessary. Training and tools will be provided. Fulfills community service requirements
