We have a special guest collaborator for this month's queer and trans community day! Cinthia Marisol is an indigiqueer writer and two-spirit interdisciplinary artist currently living in San Francisco, CA, also known as native Ohlone land. We will begin the day by caring for the land near a tidal marsh in San Francisco, finding inspiration in the ebb and flow of the tides and what they can teach us about interconnectedness and change. Our land stewardship will be followed by a beginner-friendly bookbinding workshop led by Cinthia in which you'll create your own Stacked Folio Field Journal to reflect on your observations and experiences on the land.

Special message from the teaching artist Cinthia Marisol: "With love and respect for the ancestral lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Penninsula, this workshop is intended to offer an opportunity for the community to not only engage in caring for the land but to connect with one's senses."

Cinthia's work can be found in the collections at The Newberry Library in Chicago, UCSC Special Collections Library, One Archives at USC and the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library at the University of Toronto. Cinthia enjoys writing about the intersections found in memory, spirituality, and ancestry. Some of Cinthia's favorite authors include Cecilia Vicuna, Alejandra Pizarnik, Don Miguel Ruiz, and Audre Lourde. When they are not writing, Cinthia enjoys bike rides and learning about new wood working techniques.

Accessibility details: For the outdoor stewardship portion of the program, masks will be optional. If weather allows, we will be outdoors for bookbinding, but if conditions are windy, we'll move inside and ask folks to wear a mask indoors to make this program accessible to chronically ill and immunocompromised members of our community. We will provide masks!

AGE, SKILLS, WHAT TO BRING:

• Participants of all ages are welcome.
• Wear clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Bring layers for changing weather and rain gear if necessary.
• Bring a personal water bottle and sunscreen.
• No experience necessary. Training and tools will be provided.

COVID-specific Guidelines

• Face coverings and social distancing are encouraged, but not required.
• Stay home and DO NOT attend if you:
  • Have any illness symptoms
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19
  • Suspect you have had contact with a COVID-19 positive case
