The Golden Gate Raptor Observatory's (GGRO) mission is the preservation of California raptors through scientific research, outreach, and community involvement. Each year, we study and monitor the Pacific Raptor Flyway from the Marin Headlands, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
We are a Community Science Raptor Research program, and we rely on a team of volunteers to assist us in collecting data. Our volunteer program consists of two opportunities: Hawkwatch Volunteer or Banding Volunteer. Each requires a 5-month (Aug-Dec) commitment, volunteering a full day every other week, plus additional off-season requirements especially for Banding Volunteers.
In this virtual information session, you will learn about each of the GGRO programs and what it entails to become a GGRO volunteer.
