The Presidio Activator Council was vital in the creation of our newest parksite, Presidio Tunnel Tops, and is comprised of Bay Area community leaders representing communities historically underrepresented in national parks.
We are thrilled to be holding this event with three incredible Activators:
Mory Chhom, the Program Director for Youth and Families at the Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants (CERI), in Oakland. She is a Cambodian American born in a Cambodian refugee camp in Thailand who works to improve the lives of Southeast Asian refugees.
Mark Smith has partnered with the tri-orgs for over 6 years to create accessible outdoor experiences through the San Francisco VA Healthcare System through the W.A.R.I.O.R program. He is an occupational therapist who has worked to create meaningful, inclusive, and accessible outdoor experiences for veterans in our national parks.
Sharaya Souza, Co-founder and Executive Director of the American Indian Cultural District, and an ambassador for promoting equitable resource distribution to American Indian communities, increasing Native visibility and political representation, and protecting and preserving tribal cultural resources in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Learn more about how they have been developing innovative ways to incorporate art, culture, food, healing, wellness, and music into Presidio Tunnel Tops’ opening season to make it a park for all forever!
