You might've seen the space taking shape between the Presidio Main Post and Crissy Field. We can't wait to experience Presidio Tunnel Tops with you when it opens July 17!
This new 14-acre national park experience includes trails, meadows, play spaces, and overlooks to soak in the 360-degree views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay. Special cultural events and food offerings are being planned, and Presidio Tunnel Tops will be a welcoming destination for people to gather and learn about the natural world.
Presidio Tunnel Tops was built with community input and the generous support of Parks Conservancy donors and members. A big THANK YOU to those park champions and our partners at NPS and the Presidio Trust for making this project happen.

Fun features
The toughest decision may be where to start: The communal campfire circle, the picnic areas, the views? We recommend popping into the Presidio Visitor Center for a Discover Guide or to grab a snack or gift. Families will find the Outpost—that's the 2-acre, choose-your-own-adventure play area filled with challenges kids will want to tackle. And everybody will enjoy the adjacent Field Station, a discovery zone filled with sensory objects to encourage learning about our national parks, from plants and animals to the people who care for them.
Great connections
Our youth program leaders are most excited about the dynamic Crissy Field Center. The newly renovated Center is closed to the public, but young people can sign up for free summer programs and more on the Crissy Field Center website. The Crissy Field Center will also be an engine for youth jobs. Meet our Adventure Guides, who will help guide people around the site when it opens this summer.
Building on the community-driven design, the Presidio Activator Council will develop innovative ways to incorporate art, culture, food, healing, wellness, and music into Presidio Tunnel Tops for opening season, so it can be a welcoming and inclusive space. The Council was formed by the Partnership for the Presidio (the Parks Conservancy, Presidio Trust, and NPS) and is comprised of Bay Area community leaders, activists, and artists.
The Presidio Activator Council is planning a series of events at Presidio Tunnel Tops this summer and beyond. Favianna Rodriguez, an artist, cultural strategist, and president of the Center for Cultural Power, will debut a series of sidewalk murals and art installations at the site for opening weekend and beyond. On Aug. 20, Hip Hop for Change will host the 6th annual Environmental Justice Summit. This free, all-ages, one-day event spotlights issues affecting historically oppressed communities while uplifting local artists and connecting and empowering local communities.
"Presidio Activators from diverse backgrounds are able to come out here with intentionality and unity," said Sharaya Souza, co-founder and Executive Director of the American Indian Cultural District. Sharaya is working on a series of cultural activities that highlight Native Americans, like an oral storytelling series around the Campfire Circle. "We’re able to share the access and the opportunity to shape these spaces within our communities so they can see themselves in the landscape by creating events and activities specifically culturally relevant to them."

Led by the Parks Conservancy, the Presidio Tunnel Tops campaign raised $98 million. We're grateful to our dedicated Presidio Tunnel Tops campaign committee, led by Lynne Benioff, Mark Buell, and Randi Fisher, and to all those who supported the campaign.
This new space is a gift to the city, representing parks at their best. Presidio Tunnel Tops will be a place for community, for connections, and ultimately, for the public good.
