Join Marin Municipal Water District, One Tam and the California Academy of Sciences at Lake Lagunitas to investigate mushroom biodiversity in this mycoblitz. Hone your naturalist skills, participate in community (citizen) projects through the North American Mycoflora Project and iNaturalist and become our scientific collaborator for a day!
The day will start outdoors with an orientation to our protocols and an introduction to mushrooms. We will then break off in small groups to collect mushrooms in the field for a few hours. We will explore Lake Lagunitas, Lake Bon Tempe, and surrounding trails. After collecting, participants will gather again to share their finds in a small fungus fair where you can stay as long as you wish to learn how to identify mushrooms from local experts and enjoy food in the comfort of an indoor setting. Mushroom collection: 1-4:30 PM. Mushroom identification: 5:00-7:00 PM
Mushroom-curious folks of all ages and experience levels are welcome. Additional details will be sent after registration.
Meeting location: Lake Lagunitas picnic area, located next to the parking lot (google map)
Registration required. If registration is full and you would like to be added to the waiting list, or for more information, contact Lisette Arellano at larellano@onetam.org . Please use the subject line “Mycoblitz 2/29” for a quicker response.
