Here in San Mateo Park Stewardship we were sad to say goodbye to Laurasia and Samuel, our interns for the 2018-2019 season. But that means we get to welcome new interns for the 2019-2020 season! Meet Reema and Daniel, in their own words, below.

Daniel Joannes:
My name is Daniel Joannes and I am a recent graduate of the University Of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where I studied forest ecology and restoration. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have always enjoyed getting outside in nature to explore. I am passionate about rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding and more recently, surfing. My best friend jokes that all I need to be happy is the chance to "play" outside in good company. I really enjoy taking new people and sharing experiences with them in the natural world. I also have a passion for caring for these special places that I get to get out in. Working for the last few summers on prairie restoration, I have found a love for things such as plant identification, seed collection, and the process of restoring the land to a state that wildlife, plants and people alike can enjoy and thrive in. Over the next year I am very excited to get to know the awesome community surrounding the Golden Gate National Parks, and work together in the many different ecosystems that make it up.
