June to September Trail Updates

Since June, the trail crew has hosted 10 different groups, during 13 work days. A huge thank you to everyone who has joined us in the past four months, caring for our trails, getting dirty and having fun!

And what stewards you are! From corporate groups to youth programs, those who visit us for one drop-in and those who spend nearly a week with us, y’all are the fuel and the funny that keeps us pushing to do better. Since June, we have traveled with you to Sutro Heights, Mori Point, Tennessee Valley, and even Alcatraz to renew our trails, historic places, and natural habitats. Thank you for all that you do!

 
And now, the numbers:

• HAULED over 19 cubic yards of soil material.
• REVEGETATED 200 square feet of Muir Woods.
• MAINTAINED 580 feet of fencing.
• DEADHEADED 200 feet of flowers.
• REHABILITATED 100 feet of social trails.
• BRUSHED 2,900 linear feet of trail.
• DECK FLOSSED 2,240 square feet of bridges.

We are so lucky to be able to work alongside and learn from our partners who do restoration, gardening, and wildlife work in our parks. It is incredibly important as a trail steward to not only focus on trail maintenance, but how that work will affect the habitats and historic places those trails lead us through. Everything is connected, including this community of stewards and park-lovers!
