We're reflecting with gratitude on Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend of Service 2024 and all the volunteers who gave back to their local communities. Almost 300 volunteers served 734 hours in San Francisco and Marin counties. In the Presidio and Marin Headlands, 1,250 plants were planted! You helped clear vegetation and mulch to help native habitats thrive, and completed maintenance projects at Fort Mason, three batteries in the Presidio, and the boardwalk at Muir Woods.
Acts of service, like volunteering in your local San Francisco Bay Area parks, are also acts of strengthening our connections and bonds to the people and places around us. To continue building healthy communities—and to actively build upon Martin Luther King Jr.'s trailblazing impact on civil rights—we must continue to serve one another by working to advance access, equity, and justice in the parks and beyond. Check out our upcoming volunteer opportunities to plan your next outing.
