Commemorating 10,000 years of Ohlone Settlement in San Mateo County & The 250th Anniversary of the Portola’ Expedition Sighting of San Francisco Bay.
Hosted at the Pacifica Community Center (540 Crespi Drive), there will be ranger-guided hikes to the Sweeney Ridge site and a dedication ceremony with political dignitaries dedicating a new Ohlone-Portola Heritage Day and Mural. Learn the history of the people involved, hike the path of the Portola exhibition, and enjoy all the activities!
Ohlone-Portola Heritage Day Details:
8:30 am: Morning Hike to the Bay Sighting - Limited space, call 415-561-4323 to RSVP
10:00 to 11:00 am: Pacifica Community Center open to the public, partner agency tables, and activities
11:00 am to 12:00 pm: Welcome ceremony, speakers, reading of proclamations, and mural presentation
12:00 to 1:00 pm: Partner agency tables and activities
1:00 pm: Historical program
2:00 pm: Afternoon hikes (Wear sturdy shoes for 3.6-mile, 1,000ft. rise hike. RSVP on-site.)
3:00 pm: Event conclusion
