When: Friday, January 31st, 2025, 10:30 am–5 pm
Where: Meet at the Castro Theatre for the shuttle, activities take place at Rancho Corral de Tierra;
Note: If taking the shuttle from Castro Theatre, please make sure to show up by 10:30 am, as the shuttle will leave promptly at 11 am. Please email Christian Trujillo at ctrujillo@parksconservancy.org for additional driving & parking instructions if you do not need a ride via the shuttle. Registration is required.
Join us for a transformative and restorative day in our native grasslands of Rancho Corral de Tierra! This event offers a unique opportunity for queer and trans individuals to connect with nature, reflect, learn, and build community in a supportive, inclusive space. Space is limited, so make sure to register early.
Event Highlights:
- Guided Meditation: Begin the day with a peaceful and grounding meditation in the heart of nature, led by an experienced facilitator, to help you center yourself and prepare for a day of exploration.
- Planting Native Plants: We'll be helping in the restoration of native habitat.
- Art Activity: Bring your creative mind to use the natural world around you in a special art activity.
- Hike: Enjoy a 1-mile guided hike with a moderate elevation gain of 272 ft, offering stunning views of the oceans coast.
Schedule:
- 10:30 am: Meet-up at the Castro Theatre
- 11:00 am: Bus departs for Rancho Corral de Tierra
- 12:00 pm-4:00 pm: Program activities at Rancho (meditation, planting, small walk, & snacks)
- 4:00 pm: Bus departs for return to San Francisco
Details:
- Bus Pick-Up/Drop-Off: The bus will pick you up from the Castro Theatre at 11:00 am and will drop you back off at the same location at 5:00 pm.
- Hike Details: The hike is 1 mile with a 272 ft elevation gain, suitable for all experience levels. Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
Groups
Groups of five or more require special arrangements and must be confirmed in advance. Please review the List of Available Projects and fill out the Group Project Request Form.
AGE, SKILLS, WHAT TO BRING:
- Volunteers of all ages are welcome.
- We'll be working rain or shine. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Bring layers for changing weather and rain gear if necessary.
- Bring a personal water bottle and sunscreen.
- No experience necessary. Training and tools will be provided. Fulfills community service requirements.
COVID-specific Guidelines
- Face coverings and social distancing are encouraged, but not required.
- Stay home and DO NOT attend if you:
- Have any illness symptoms
- Have tested positive for COVID-19
- Suspect you have had contact with a COVID-19 positive case
