Fort Miley Military Reservation on Point Lobos was acquired by the U. S. Army in 1893 and used as part of the defense of the San Francisco coastline and bay during WWII. Overlooking Land's End, most of the original Army buildings were demolished in 1934 to allow construction of the Fort Miley Veterans Administration Hospital. The sole surviving army building, an ordnance storehouse, is now a maintenance building for the National Park Service. On this inspiring walk led by park historian John Martini, we'll be honoring our veterans as we learn more about the history of the military at Fort Miley.
